She will speak on the topic “Objects as Echoes of Loss in Memory and Narration of the Holocaust."

Koerte is the author of the forthcoming book, Edible Letters and the Burning of Books: Forms of Book-Destruction in European Literature.

In her talk, she will trace the role of beloved objects and their function as memory-bridges in biographical and literary sources of the Holocaust, including testimonies of former children who left Germany with the Kindertransports.

The Oct. 12 lecture is sponsored by the Women's Studies Program and the Frank and Yetta Chaiken Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Delaware.
