7:49 a.m., Sept. 30, 2009----The University of Delaware Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD) is hosting the International Student Discussion Series “Enhancing Well-Being and Success in the U.S.” on Wednesdays from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Kirkwood Room on the second floor of the Perkins Student Center. The first session begins Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Designed for international undergraduate and graduate students at UD, the series will cover topics such as the following:

* Getting started at the University of Delaware; issues around basic adjustment.

* Making friends in the U.S.

* U.S. social norms, customs, and holidays.

* Staying in touch with home: remaining close to your friends and family while studying abroad.

* “Fitting in” issues around social and academic adjustment.

* Achieving balance: how to juggle between all your life roles.

* Visiting home after being abroad.

* Other topics of interest

The series will be led by CCSD psychologist Kelly Ozambela, postdoctoral fellows Laura Tetiler and Junichi Shimaoka, and predoctoral intern Anju Kaduvettoor.

Meetings will be conducted in the spirit of collaboration and global community. The seminar leaders will provide activities, films, speakers, problem-solving suggestions and advice, and promote lively conversations.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
