The students each donated about five pounds of apples to the Food Bank, and several members of the student organization's executive board delivered the apples after the event.

The Hospitality Humanitarian Society is a registered student organization that was started in the fall of 2007 by several students in the Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management who had the desire and spirit to serve the community.

Since it was founded, the society has partnered up with the local Food Bank, churches and community centers. Past actives include baking cookies and brownies for the families at the Ronald McDonald House, serving meals at local community centers and churches, and partnering with different departments on campus.

The society is continuing to grow and now includes students from several different colleges and various fields of study. It is actively seeking ways in which it can have a larger impact on serving the community with pride.
