Presentations

Lawrence Nees, professor of art history, presented a paper, “Notes on the Evidence from Latin and Other Christian Manuscripts for the Dating of the Earliest Qur'an Manuscripts,” at an international and interdisciplinary Seminar on the Evidence for the Early History of the Qur'an, which was held July 30-31. The seminar was organized by the Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies at Stanford University, and was restricted to 11 scholars from religious studies, history, palaeography and epigraphy, as well as art history, and included contributors from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Iran, South Africa and South Korea.

Sheldon D. Pollack, professor of law and legal studies, was a participant on a panel at the annual conference of the American Political Science Association in Toronto, Canada, on Sept. 6. The panel was entitled "Author Meets Readers: Sheldon Pollack's War, Revenue, and State Building: Financing the Development of the American State,” and was devoted to a discussion of Pollack's new book. The moderator of the panel was Leslie F. Goldstein, professor of political science and international relations at UD.
