Part of the University's continuing Creating Knowledge-Based Partnerships Conference Series, the program will focus on the next stage of Delaware's plan to create the best schools in the world by 2015. This year's event is a follow up to a series conference last October, entitled “ Delaware's Education for a Global Economy: Making Vision 2015 Work”.

Begun three years ago, Vision 2015 is a collaborative effort involving education, government, business and civic leaders, along with citizens throughout Delaware, to provide a world-class public education to every student in the First State. The conference will include a report on progress to date by Marvin N. "Skip" Schoenhals, who chairs Vision 2015.

Lillian Lowery, secretary of the Delaware Department of Education will talk on “Delaware's Strategic Plan for Public Education and Delaware's Race to the Top Goals.” Also speaking will be Delaware Gov. Jack Markell and UD President Patrick Harker.

In addition, morning panel discussions are scheduled on the topics "Ensuring Highly Effective Teachers for All Delaware Students" and "Turning Around Our Lowest-Performing Schools."

The conference is sponsored by the University of Delaware, the Office of the Governor, the Delaware Department of Education, the Rodel Foundation of Delaware, Vision 2015, Education Voters of Delaware, the Delaware Business Roundtable, First State Innovation, the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce, the Delaware Public Policy Institute, Delaware State University, Delaware Technical and Community College and The News Journal.

Cost of the conference is $50, and registration may be completed online at the Creating Knowledge-Based Partnerships Conference Series Web site.
