8:13 a.m., Sept. 4, 2009----The University of Delaware's Baltimore and Washington, D.C., alumni clubs will welcome new graduates during special events this week.

The Washington, D.C., Alumni Club will greet new graduates during a reception beginning at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Molly Malone's, 713 8th St., SE.

Immediately following, UD alumni will have shuttle service to Nationals Park to watch the Washington Nationals take on the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies. Blue Hens will sit together in seats just behind the outfield wall. Registration of $25 includes the shuttle and the game ticket.

The Baltimore Alumni Club will hold its welcome event from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, at TAPS Baltimore, 1439 S. Charles St., Federal Hill.

A section of the establishment has been reserved to give Blue Hens a place to catch up with old friends and meet new alumni. Cost of the event is $20.

The Kent and Sussex Counties Alumni Club will participate in a Delaware Coastal Clean-up event sponsored by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 19, at Dewey Beach. Following, there will be a clambake on the beach. The cost of the clambake is $10. For details or to register, see the club's Web page.

The Washington Alumni Club is planning a reception and presentation on sustainability by Nancy Targett, dean of the College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Public Bar, 1214 18th St. Targett will discuss the University's environmental research and education programs.

The Class of 1959 will celebrate its 50th reunion during special events through Homecoming weekend, Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31. For information and to register, click the Class of 1959 link at the reunions Web page.

A kick-off event for reunion committees for the Classes of 1960, 1985, 2000 and 2005 will be held during Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 31. For details, see the reunions Web page.
