9:05 a.m., Oct. 26, 2009----On Wednesday, Nov. 18, Beverly Hall, superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools and the 2009 National Superintendent of the Year, will address Delaware's school leaders, policy makers, University of Delaware faculty, and students.
The event is open to the public and will begin at 5 p.m. with a meet-and-greet session at The Outlook in the Duncan Center in Dover, Del. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m., followed by a keynote address by Hall on the topic of “Leading Urban Schools.”
This event is sponsored by the Delaware Academy for School Leadership at the University of Delaware in collaboration with the Delaware Department of Education. Funding for the event has been provided by the Wallace Foundation.
Hall was appointed superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools in 1999, and in her 10 years as the leader of the district she has transformed it into a world-class school system. She was named the National Superintendent of the Year by the American Association for School Administrators. Hall will also meet with Delaware's district superintendents prior to the reception to answer specific questions related to the work she has done in improving schools in Atlanta.
