About 150-200 third, fourth, and fifth grade students from local elementary schools will be coming to the University's Newark campus to experience a variety of musical "soundscapes" in a morning of themed musical exploration.

Project MUSIC Day is part of a larger community engagement and education program affiliated with the music department, as well as the Office of Service Learning.

As part of the program, UD music majors, organized into teaching artist ensembles, visit local elementary schools to expose the students to classical musical instruments, classical repertoire, and general music terminology.

Project MUSIC Day is part of the 2009-2010 curricular expansion plan for this program, and is being organized by Shari Feldman, a senior music major, the program coordinator and 2009 service learning scholar for Project MUSIC.
