10:49 a.m., Oct. 16, 2009----Forty-five people turned out for the University of Delaware Colleges Against Cancer Pink Out held Thursday, Oct. 15, on the North Green.
Those who turned out on a rainy afternoon included three cancer survivors.
The University's mascot, YoUDee, joined the Pink Out group, which gathered to raise awareness of breast cancer.
Organizers plan to hold a second event at noon, Thursday, Oct. 22, weather permitting.
The event is sponsored by UD Colleges Against Cancer, the City of Newark and the Newark Arts Alliance, which has placed pink ribbons on light poles along Main Street.
