11:33 a.m., Oct. 2, 2009----The University of Delaware Office of Alumni Relations has announced a range of activities being held in conjunction with Homecoming 2009.
Many of the activities surround the Homecoming football game between the Blue Hens and Colonial Athletic Association rival James Madison University. Kickoff will be at noon, Saturday, Oct. 31, at Tubby Raymond Field at Delaware Stadium.
Alumni Homecoming activities include:
A New Castle County pre-Homecoming alumni reception will be held from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29, at Timothy's, overlooking White Clay Creek off Paper Mill Road in Newark. Cost is $5 per person. Alumni who plan to attend can register online.
The Class of 1959 Homecoming celebration will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30-31. The 50th class reunion dinner will be held Saturday. Class members who plan to attend can register online.
The Black Alumni Organization will hold Homecoming weekend events Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30-31, with the theme “Fulfilling Our Commitment to the Path to Prominence.” On Oct. 30, Black Alumni Organization members will tour the exhibition Sound Print Record: African American Legacies from 4-6 p.m. at Mechanical Hall, and hold a networking reception from 7-11 p.m. at Timothy's on the Riverfront, 930 Justison St., Wilmington. There will be a host of activities on Oct. 31, including a potluck tailgate at the football game, a barbecue at the Center for Black Culture from 3-7 p.m., a young alumni mixer from 8-9 p.m. at the Rebel Restaurant in Wilmington, and a Homecoming party from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Basil Bar and Grill in the Sheraton Suites in Wilmington. The reunion committees Homecoming kick-off event and leadership training will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30-31. The kick-off will be held Friday evening and training Saturday morning. For details or to register, see the UD Connection Web page.
The College of Education and Public Policy will hold a Homecoming brunch on Saturday, Oct. 31. The event will be held in the CEPP tent, to be located next to the football practice field behind the Delaware Field House. Alumni who plan to attend can register online.
The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources will hold a Homecoming celebration on Saturday, Oct. 31. There will be a pre-game brunch and ice cream from the UD Creamery. Alumni who plan to attend can register online.
