The survey will be sent to University e-mail addresses on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

In a recent communication to the campus community, UD Vice President for Administration J.J. Davis said, “Understanding the opportunities and dismantling the barriers for building a truly inclusive and welcoming environment for all faculty, staff, and students is another step toward ensuring our Path to ProminenceTM.”

Davis said the survey was developed with assistance from the Diversity Action Council and the Office for Institutional Research, and received input from the Commission to Promote Racial and Cultural Diversity, Commission on the Status of Women, Student Government Association, Graduate Student Senate, HAVEN, and the Office of Equity and Inclusion.

The information gathered will be used to inform and improve UD's ability to create an educational community that is intellectually, culturally and socially inclusive, enriched by the contributions and full participation of persons from many different backgrounds, Davis said.

She said several demographic questions are included on the survey to assist in determining whether certain groups perceive being treated equitably, stressing that individual responses will remain confidential and anonymous -- survey data will be analyzed and reported only in the aggregate that will not compromise the identity of respondents.

The survey will be sent out to UD e-mail addresses Dec. 1, and it is asked the surveys be completed and returned by Dec. 11. A paper-based survey is also available by contacting the Office of Equity and Inclusion at (302) 831-8063.
