9:21 a.m., Nov. 23, 2009----Sixteen competitors with University of Delaware ties finished in the top four at U.S. Figure Skating's Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships held Nov. 17-21 on campus.

The skaters, who represent the host University of Delaware Figure Skating Club or who train at UD's Ice Skating Science Development Center, will now compete at the U.S. National Championships scheduled Jan. 14-24 in Spokane, Wash.

Capturing first place honors were Lauren Corry and Alex Lorello in senior dance; Anastasia Cannuscio and Colin McManus in junior dance; and Erika Smith and Nathan Bartholomay in junior pairs.

Melissa Bulanhagui finished second in senior ladies, Whitney Miller and Grant Lorello finished second in juvenile dance, and Emmanuel Savary finished second in novice men.

Felicia Zhang, who represents the Skating Club of New York but trains at UD, finished third in junior ladies and also took third in junior pairs with partner Taylor Toth.

Meara Lorello and William Dean finished fourth in intermediate dance and Meredith Pipkin and Brett Neustadt finished fourth in novice pairs.
