3:10 p.m., Nov. 10, 2009----The University of Delaware Department of English will hold an event called "Shakespeare First: A Celebration of the Arts" at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Roselle Center for the Arts.

The event will feature a lecture by James Shapiro, author of A Year in the Life of William Shakespeare: 1599.

The lecture will be followed by a reception and a concert by Lyric Fest, a Philadelphia-based chorale, that celebrates Shakespeare's life in music. The concert will begin at 8 p.m.

“Shakespeare First” is free and open to the public and is made possible through a gift from the Charlotte Orth Shakespeare Fund.
