8:37 a.m., Nov. 12, 2009----The University of Delaware StUDent Government Association will be holding its annual Thanksgiving food drive on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 19-20.
The event will be co-sponsored by EXCEL and Alpha Phi Omega. Collection will take place in two different locations to conveniently serve the entire community.
Collection on Thursday, Nov. 19, will take place in the Perkins Student Center Gallery from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Collection on Friday, Nov. 20, will occur in Multipurpose Room C of the Trabant University Center and in the Collins Room of the Perkins Student Center, also from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Students and community members are also encouraged to bring donations to the sold-out Maroon 5 concert, which will be held Monday evening, Nov. 16, at the Bob Carpenter Center. Collection bins will be spread throughout the venue for concert attendees to make donations. Band members of Maroon 5 support all donations made to the annual Thanksgiving food drive.
As in past food drives, SGA supports the participation of all registered student organizations (RSOs) and student groups. University departments and administrative offices will be continuing their tradition of participation, as well.
Last year, the SGA food drive raised more than 1,000 pounds of food for the Food Bank of Delaware. Contributions will once again go to that organization, and any type of donation is appreciated.
