11:13 a.m., March 5, 2010----The University of Delaware Office of Communications and Marketing has launched a new UDigital Portfolio image resource for members of the campus community seeking photographs to use on Web pages and in printed materials.
The new UDigital Portfolio is an easy-to-use database that allows authorized users to download images for free.
UDigital has more than 800 images spanning eight different "themed" categories -- athletics; student life; buildings and grounds; design elements; research; teaching and learning; historical images; and special.
All of the images are available to be used in either Web or print format and there are model releases for the featured subjects and students.
Users can create personalized collections of images that they can go back to and refer to when designing brochures or updating Web sites.
Searches can be done by keywords or by simply browsing through a particular themed category. The design elements category includes stock-type images, and OCM is planning to add a substantial collection of study abroad images to the student life category.
The UDigital database also provides users a way to request an image that they do not see within the collection. The online portfolio is a small fraction of images created by OCM's Photo Services and represents the best images available.
Users who require images not available online are encouraged to seek assistance through the integrated research request.
Users who do find what they need in the collections can download a full resolution size image or a screen shot for Web use. They can download a collection of images in a single zip.
UD faculty, staff and current students can log in through CAS and have access to the portfolio.
The portfolio will be maintained and updated frequently as new images become available and older images replaced to ensure that the collection stays current.
“We encourage faculty, staff and students to use this outstanding resource to visually represent the mission and beauty of the University of Delaware,” said David Brond, vice president of communications and marketing. “Members of our Photo Services unit Kathy Atkinson, Ambre Alexander and Evan Krape have done an excellent job in both capturing the campus and developing a means to share their fine work for use by the campus community.”
“The UDigital Portfolio offers a robust collection of images, a collection that will be updated regularly to ensure that it remains the best possible resource for faculty, staff and students interested in promoting the University of Delaware online or in print materials,” said Atkinson, OCM senior photographer.
