Grants will provide up to $75,000 in funding for projects 12 to 18 months in duration. Successful applications must include at least one collaborator from each of the four DHSA institutions.

One of the goals of the alliance is to develop a thriving and sustainable inter-institutional research capability, and the pilot grant program is aimed at facilitating the development of a seamless process for that capability.

Research applications that involve T1, T2, and/or T3 projects are eligible. Of particular interest are projects that involve T2 (effectiveness) and T3 (dissemination, policy, and diffusion) research.

Projects are selected based on scientific merit, the potential to lead to a larger proposal for NIH funding, and the ability of the research team to demonstrate successful collaboration among the four institutions.

This is DHSA's third round of pilot grant funding. Currently funded projects focus on identifying cutting-edge cancer therapies and creating the bioinformatics framework that will facilitate translational research among the alliance members. The two projects funded during the first competition addressed prostate cancer and cardiovascular studies.

Please see the website for additional details. Electronic copies of applications should be submitted by Monday, Aug. 16, to [dhsainfo@udel.edu]. Interested investigators may direct questions about this opportunity to Karl Steiner, senior associate provost for research development, at 831-6703 or [ksteiner@udel.edu].
