The new site is targeted at employees of the Army's Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), including those moving to Aberdeen as a result of the Department of Defense's Base Relocation and Closure (BRAC) program.

According to David Weir, director of the Office of Economic Innovation and Partnerships, UD has had a long relationship with the Army. As a result of BRAC, this relationship is now growing, encompassing research, education, internships and recruiting.

The BRAC program will create an estimated 8,000 jobs at APG, with an additional 16,000 jobs expected to serve the needs of the expanded post.
