1:09 p.m., Jan. 28, 2010----Dewayne Lowery, the second suspect in the Jan. 26 robbery, pursuit and officer-involved shooting, was taken into custody by deputies from the Cecil County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 27.
Lowery approached a house on Ed Moore Road in the Fair Hill area and asked the resident permission to use the phone to call a taxi. The resident was suspicious and called police. When Lowery saw the deputies, he attempted to run but was caught by the officers.
He is currently being held in Maryland on charges lodged by Maryland authorities. It is not known when he will be brought to Delaware to answer charges from the events of Jan. 26.
Newark Police have expressed their gratitude to other police agencies that have assisted in this investigation, including the University of Delaware Police.
