The Department of Music has had the use of new first-class pianos on a no-cost basis for the 2009 year, with this ongoing arrangement provided through a partnership with the Rockley Family Foundation. These instruments, instruments provided to other institutions and instruments made available by manufacturing partners will be sold to perpetuate this valuable program.

A large selection of new or used grands, baby grands, digital player grands, upright pianos, digital pianos, keyboards, orchestral string instruments, acoustic and electric guitars will be available from such famous manufacturers as Steinway and Sons, Yamaha, Pramberger, Baldwin, Bechstein, Kawai, Roland, Gibson, Breedlove, Ibanez, Peavey and others. Most instruments are less than one-year old, include a full factory warranty and are tuned and ready to go.

Delivery and special no-interest financing is available on site. Special prices are offered especially for the University of Delaware campus community. Moreover, a portion (45 percent) of a purchase is considered as a charitable contribution to the Rockley Family Foundation and may be tax deductible.

There are two ways to view and purchase, first by appointment through a special "pre-sale" on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29-30, prior to the general public sale. This will provide an opportunity to purchase with priority in selection and price reductions. To secure a time, call (302) 731-4137.

The final sale day for the general public will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31, with no appointment necessary.

The sale will be held in the Roselle Center for the Arts and paid parking is available in the adjacent parking garage. For directions, please call or download a map online.

“In a time where creative solutions are needed to maintain a properly equipped music program, the continuation of this loan program is important for us in our efforts to further education in the arts. I hope you are able to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity,” said Paul Head, chairperson of the Department of Music.
