A critical resource for UD's international community, providing information on travel and housing, maintaining visa status, and many other topics, is the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS).

Effective Jan. 1, in light of the office's many human resource services, OISS will report to Vice President for Administration Jennifer (J. J.) Davis. The office will move from the Student Services Building to 413 Academy Street in February.

OISS represents a “home away from home” for all international students, scholars, and employees at the University of Delaware and their dependents, according to Susan C. Lee, director.

Joining Lee on the office's staff are Mary E. Politakis, international student and scholar processing specialist; Anne McCullin, international student and scholar processing associate; and Brenda Foraker, administrative assistant.

“Our goal is to provide the University's international community with necessary services for success, as well as a nurturing environment to promote multicultural diversity,” Lee said.

The office serves international students from admission to graduation and beyond. It also is responsible for the completion of hiring paperwork for all non-U.S. citizen employees on campus, Lee noted.

Additionally, as of January 1, the University is instituting a centralized process of sponsoring certain foreign national employees for permanent resident status in the United States through a partnership with a well-known immigration law firm. Detailed information and instructions will be available soon on the OISS Web site.

“OISS looks forward to working with the campus community and beyond to strengthen UD's international commitment,” Lee said.
