University Police seek suspect in laptop theft

4:28 p.m., Jan. 28, 2010----University of Delaware Police are seeking a suspect in the Jan. 9 theft of a laptop computer from the third floor of the Morris Library. The incident happened at about 1:30 p.m.

Police said the suspect, who took an unattended laptop, is about 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 5 inches in height, of a slender build and with short dark hair. He has a large red burn scar on the right side of his chin about the size of a silver dollar and at the time of the theft was wearing an oversize black faux leather jacket, a black baseball cap and baggy jeans. He also was carrying a royal blue backpack.

Police said the victim immediately notified the front desk and when the man attempted to leave through the exit gate, he turned over the stolen laptop to the desk staff and then fled the area.
