Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a Feb. 4 Toronto Globe and Mail article about a civil suit filed against Bank of America.

Research on knee replacement surgery and subsequent weight gain conducted by Lynn Snyder-Mackler, Alumni Distinguished Professor of Physical Therapy, was cited in Feb. 2 Los Angeles Times and About.com blogs.

Douglas Tuttle, instructor in the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy, was quoted in a Feb. 2 Boston University Daily Free Press article about the Clery Act.

Tricia Wachtendorf, assistant professor of sociology and associate director of the Disaster Research Center, was quoted in a front page Feb. 1 Los Angeles Times article about disaster research.

Chrysanthia Leon, assistant professor of sociology, was quoted in a Feb. 1 News Journal article about the registration and tracking of sex offenders. "You've got a small group of offenders who commit lots of new offenses. We need to do a better job of distinguishing among the bigger group of offenders, and dedicate more of our resources on this smaller group of high-risk offenders," Leon told the newspaper.

Richard Gordon, manager of communications in Information Technologies, and students Justin Wood, a senior, and Cathy Collins and Jill Sumner, both freshmen, were quoted in a Jan. 31 News Journal article about the new Apple iPad.

The University of Delaware Disaster Research Center Web site was selected the Web Site of the Week by the Weekly Homeland Security Newsletter in its Jan. 29 issue.

David M. Stone, professor in the Department of Art History, was interviewed about the Toledo Museum of Art's recent acquisition of Guercino's painting of Lot and his Daughters, a masterpiece of the Bolognese artist's late period, in the Jan. 20 Toledo Blade.

Marianne Carter, director of the Delaware Center for Health Promotion at UD, was featured in a Jan. 19 News Journal article about the statewide “Be Healthy Delaware: Walk It Off!” program created by the center. According to Carter, “Walking is an easy, safe, inexpensive and healthy way to reduce your risk for illness.” Delawareans are being encouraged to walk 10 miles per week for a 10-week period beginning March 2. The free program will be available weekly in the News Journal and online. Individuals can register at the Delaware Online site until March 1.

Rudi Matthee, Distinguished Professor of History, was interviewed on Resonance FM, a cultural radio station in London, U.K., about his current research on Iran.
