8:07 a.m., Feb. 5, 2010----The University of Delaware Library announces a new exhibit of items from the Lincoln Collection of the Lincoln Club of Delaware called “Abraham Lincoln in Harper's Weekly” in commemoration of the birth of Abraham Lincoln, Feb. 12, 1809.

The exhibit will be on display in the Lincoln Exhibit Case adjacent to the Special Collections Exhibition Gallery located on the second floor of the Morris Library will open on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

It will display contemporary illustrations of Abraham Lincoln from Harper's Weekly magazine through Friday, Dec. 10.

Harper's Weekly was the most popular illustrated newspaper during the Civil War era and featured numerous portraits of Abraham Lincoln as well as in depth articles about his life and career.

This exhibition will display a number of the most notable Lincoln illustrations from Harper's Weekly.

The curator of the exhibition is Timothy D. Murray, head of the Special Collections Department.
