Important news from the city of Newark

As a result of the predicted snow, the city of Newark has the following reminders for members of the University community:

--Vehicles should not be parked along streets wherever possible and should absolutely not be parked on snow emergency routes. Homes and businesses along emergency routes should make alternate plans for parking vehicles as they will be subject to towing. Please visit the city's Web site for the emergency routes.

--Please understand that large snow events will require multiple plow visits that may result in new snow piles at driveways, around parked vehicles, and possibly sidewalks. This may require persons to shovel more than once. Please do so accordingly.

--The city has extended the period for the clearance of sidewalks to 72 hours after the end of the snow event. Placing snow or ice in the street is prohibited by the Municipal Code.
