The activities planned for the event include parachute activities and a variety of movement-based games. Each activity involves sports-related movements such as grasping, throwing and rolling -- skills that will help the students develop and improve their motor skills and eye-hand coordination.

The UD students, participating as part of a service learning project in their Motor Development Course (HESC 250) with Nancy Getchell, associate professor in the Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences, have been teaching the Early Learning Center students since the beginning of the semester and will run the Activity Day as the culmination of their efforts.

The Young Athletes program is an innovative sports play program designed to introduce children with intellectual disabilities aged 2-7 to the world of sports. The program strengthens physical development and self-esteem by building skills for future sports participation and socialization.
