The topics to be covered were determined based on discussions with UD Financials users across campus and survey input from last year's all day session. They include the following:

Contract Complexities: A panel discussion of the nuances of industrial and federal contracts, subcontracts, testing agreements, and fees for service. Panelists include Trudy Riley, director of Sponsored Programs Administration; Missy Peloso, director of Compliance; and Sean Hayes, research counsel.

Close-Out Report: A new electronic report for interim and close-out values which will complete the close-out “check list” in one fell swoop. This session will discuss the close-out process, the 90-day letter/e-mail, and how this new tool will aid in this process. Presenters will include Research Office staff and staff members from departments who recently piloted the report.

The Business of Billing: Research Office billing staff will discuss and share stories about the complexities of billing, issues with final invoices, fiscal/financial reporting to sponsors, obligations on bills, and issues of manual invoices.

Policy and Procedure Potpourri: This session explores a variety of small topics pertaining to research administration. Topics include expanded authority, best practices for budget revisions, UD's new cost-share policy, and interdisciplinary research administration.

Data and Documentation: This session explores the processing of subcontract purchase orders, budget revisions, adequate audit documents, and best practices for JV's.

Roles and Responsibilities: The complimentary lunch will include a panel discussion that will review the roles and responsibilities of the principal investigator, department administrator, and Research Office.

Infrequent Flyers: Are you new to UD research or are you in a department that has infrequent proposals? This session will focus on tips and tricks and cover the basics of research administration (including that glossary of acronyms and strange terms) at UD.
