3:21 p.m., Dec. 9, 2009----The University of Delaware basketball teams will play at home this weekend, with the Blue Hens women's team taking the court at the Bob Carpenter Center on Friday evening and the men's team on Saturday afternoon.
The UD women's team, led by freshman Elena Delle Donne, will play the U.S. Naval Academy at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, in the team's home opener.
The Hens have opened the season 4-3 with a 52-50 victory at the University of Maine on Tuesday. Delle Donne is averaging 24.2 points per game.
As a special treat, UD's UDairy ice cream will be available at the Bob Carpenter Center for the game.
The UD men's team, at home Wednesday against Hampton University with tip-off at 7, will play Ohio University at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12.
The Hens have opened the season 1-6, with the victory a 97-94 overtime thriller over Penn at the Palestra in Philadelphia.
The men's team is holding a toy drive in conjunction with Saturday's game, and fans are encouraged to bring items to donate.
