8:10 a.m., Dec. 18, 2009----The Office of University Development recently launched a new Web site that features rotating stories highlighting the impact of donors, new and exciting initiatives, Reunion and Forum Weekend information, and much more.
The new format is easy to navigate to learn more about the importance of giving, areas of need, ways to connect to UD, and how to make a contribution.
While there are many ways to make a gift to UD, the new Web site also features a renovated online giving form in an effort to make giving via the Web more user-friendly. Donations can be made online by credit card or check using this new form.
Additionally, visitors can find information on how to set up recurring credit card gifts, electronic fund transfers, gifts in stock, and planned giving.
The Web site also outlines the University of Delaware's most crucial areas of support, including the seven colleges, the UD Athletics Fund, the Parent's Fund, the Sustainability Fund, and the UD Initiative. Of course, donors can still specify any allocation of their choice.
The new Web site went public just in time for year-end giving. Thursday, Dec. 31, marks the last day that gifts to the University of Delaware must be received or post-marked in order to qualify for a tax deduction in 2009.
As December tends to be one of the busiest months of the year, the launch of the Web site will help ensure that alumni, parents, and friends can get their contribution into UD in time for taxes by giving online.
Furthermore, the Office of University Development sees the Web site as a new form of communication to effectively engage the UD community. In the future, updates will include videos and other interactive tools, including an online version the Report of Private Support available exclusively to donors whose cumulative giving to UD in the previous fiscal year was $250 or more.
The Report of Private Support is an annual publication that recognizes thousands of donors who help make the University a place of excellence.
The new site continues to support the University of Delaware's Path to ProminenceTM by creating a more engaged UD community.
UD President Patrick Harker said, “Development is the fundraising arm of the University, but it is also the way our alumni and our community engage with the University to share their time, treasure, and talent to help preserve the University's legacy and ensure that tomorrow's Blue Hens have the very best educational opportunities we can offer.”
For more information and to make a gift online, visit the new Development Web site.
