7:54 a.m., Aug. 25, 2009----The Delaware Small Business Development Center will host a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) training event on Thursday, Oct. 1, at Clayton Hall on the University of Delaware campus in Newark.

John Davis of the SBIR Resource Center in Bethesda, Md., will lead a full-day seminar on “How to Win an SBIR Award.”

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Registration is required and costs $325 per person before Sept. 18 and $375 per person after that date.

On Oct. 1, check-in will begin at 8 a.m. and the seminar will begin promptly at 8:30. Continental breakfast and lunch is included.

The eight-hour workshop will cover topics such as:

  • Strategic planning with SBIR;
  • Doing the pre-proposal homework;
  • Phase I and Phase II proposals;
  • Government contract cost accounting; and
  • Proposal development
