Now available on the U.S. News Web site, the ranking of UD and more than 1,400 other schools nationwide is published in the September issue of U.S. News & World Report magazine, now on newsstands.

Among all national universities, both public and private, UD is ranked 68th, tied with Southern Methodist University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Top spot in the rankings goes to Harvard and Princeton universities, tied at first, followed by Yale at third, and the California Institute of Technology, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford and the University of Pennsylvania tied at fourth.

In a section on best undergraduate engineering programs where the highest degree is a doctorate, UD is cited at 51, tied with the Colorado School of Mines, Dartmouth College, Drexel University, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the University of Pittsburgh.

Delaware is also highlighted in a section on Programs to Look For, for First-Year Experience and Learning Communities, and is listed among schools that accept students with a desire to achieve.

Among the many factors weighed in determining the rankings, the key measures of quality are peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate performance.
