Current U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics indicate the position of financial adviser as one of the top 10 fastest growing occupations, with demand expected to increase as more baby boomers and Gen-Xers seek professional advice on monetary matters.

"Financial planners must meet the gold standard to attract, retain, and benefit a desirable clientele," explains Daniel Danese, certificate program director. "Today, that standard is the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification, the most recognizable accreditation in a well-informed market place."

The program fulfills the education requirement for those seeking the CFP designation. Other certification requirements include work experience and a bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university.

The program can be completed in one year. The cost of the complete certificate program is $4,595 and includes all textbooks. Payment plans are available.

Those who are interested in the program can attend the free information session on Aug. 19 to meet the program director, faculty, and graduates of the program and learn more about the certificate, CFP certification, and financial planning as a career. Light refreshments will be served. There is no charge to attend, but please reserve a seat by calling (302) 831-7600 or visiting the financial planning Web site.

For more information about the certificate in financial planning, including faculty credentials, curriculum information, and a detailed course schedule, visit the Web site, call (302) 831-2746, or write to [continuing-ed@udel.edu].

The certificate is offered by the University's Division of Professional and Continuing Studies in cooperation with the Lerner College of Business and Economics.
