4:06 p.m., Oct. 15, 2008----In keeping with UD's mission to become a sustainable campus, Sustainability Day at UD, an all-day, cross-campus event, set for Wednesday, Oct. 22, will offer a variety of workshops, lectures and demonstrations focused on environmental conservation.
Co-sponsored by UD's Sustainability Task Force, Academic and Student Affairs Council and several other campus units contributing to individual offerings, all events for Sustainability Day are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted, but registration for the day is recommended to track interest and gauge numbers of those involved with conservation efforts at UD.
Click here to register for individual presentations.
The following is a schedule of events for the day.
Green Purchasing, 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m., in Room 211 of the Trabant University Center, will focus on how UD's purchases through Procurement Services affect UD's ecological footprint, and how individual buying choices can make a big difference in “going green.”

ONGOING PROGRAMS HIGHLIGHTING SUSTAINABILITY AT UD
Forum on Sustainable Energy: Politics, Policy and our Energy Future, as scheduled throughout the semester, in Multipurpose Room C of the Trabant University Center, will showcase different “movers and shakers” from various sectors of business who have brought sustainability into their company's culture and mission.
What Sustainability Means To Me--two contests, sponsored by UD's Graduate Student Senate Sustainability Committee, will give students and members of the UD community a chance to showcase talent and creativity while keeping sustainability front and center:
- Video contest--Students participating will prepare a two-minute (or less) video highlighting their take on sustainability; and
- T-shirt design contest--Students participating will design a T-shirt logo highlighting their take on sustainability.
Both competitions will be launched on Sustainability Day, Oct. 22, and winners will be announced at the beginning of Earth Week, in April.
