1:20 p.m., Oct. 8, 2008----Cathy Zinszer, assistant director in the Budget Office, has been named the HR Liaison of the third quarter of 2008--an honor reserved for exemplary members of UD's human resources team.

Among the perks Zinszer received in association with the award was a bouquet of red roses delivered to her office on Oct. 1. She also will receive a certificate for her efforts at an upcoming human resources breakfast.

“I had forgotten that the person receives flowers,” Zinszer said. “It was wonderful, and the roses were just beautiful.”

Zinszer she was a bit surprised when she learned that she had been nominated by her supervisor to receive the award. “My reaction was, 'Really, are you kidding me? I only handle a small office,'” Zinszer said. “Then I was told that a number of people had nominated me. I was very surprised.”

A University staff member for 32 years, Zinszer has worked in the Budget Office for almost 25 years.

“When I became the assistant director 13 years ago, I also became the HR Liaison,” Zinszer said. “Processing human resources paperwork is only a small part of my job, but in reviewing and advising other departments concerning their budgets, I do answer questions about processing pay or recruiting and employment documents.

“I encourage others to consider attending the many workshops that are provided by the Office of Human Resources for career and personal development,” Zinszer said. “Even though my major responsibilities involve maintaining and providing budget information, everyone needs to be aware of what the University provides through the Office of Human Resources.”
