12:45 p.m., Nov. 25, 2008----There was a group of “weight watchers” on duty when the University of Delaware StUDent Government Association held its annual Thanksgiving food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Delaware, and the more pounds the better was the motto.
Campus groups brought in donations of non-perishable food items and when their contributions were all weighed in, the total came to a whopping 500-plus pounds.
Brittany Fiore and Lauren Pisarczyk, who serve as co-chairs of SGA's community service board, organized the event, which was held Nov. 21 in Multipurpose Room C of the Trabant University Center.
There were prizes for the groups that participated -- including an iPod Nano and a pizza party -- but the real winners were those whose holidays will be brightened by the student donations to the Food Bank of Delaware.
