The Policy and Practice Institute brings together the state's practicing and aspiring administrators, teacher leaders, higher education professionals and policy makers in a collaborative environment. Participants learn about national and state education research and initiatives. They then engage in discussion and make recommendations that guide the future of Delaware's education policies.

This year's theme is “Building Human Capital at the Building Level.” The event is funded by a grant from the Wallace Foundation. It will feature two keynote speakers, Bradley Portin of the University of Washington, an expert on teacher leadership, and Thomas Payzant of Harvard University, who will address the topic of systemic reform in school districts and schools.

This institute will also feature breakout sessions for participants led by national experts in the field of education. There will be booths featuring vendors of educational materials, resources and research.

The event is presented by the Delaware Department of Education, the Delaware Academy for School Leadership, the Delaware Principals' Academy, the Delaware Association of School Administrators, the Delaware Center for Educational Technology and the Delaware Education Research and Development Center.

The registration form is available for download in PDF format on the DOE Web site.

Additional information is available at the Delaware Academy for School Leadership Web site.
