8:15 a.m., May 6, 2009----The University of Delaware's 2009 Benefits Open Enrollment is underway and will run through May 20.

During open enrollment, employees can change their benefits, check their benefit costs and confirm their enrollment for July 1 at this Web site.

“It is critical to review and analyze your benefits this year, as employee contributions for the health insurance plan are increasing for the first time in four years. The University continues to cover a significant portion (on average 88 percent) of the cost of this benefit,” Chris Ulrich, manager in the Office of Human Resources, said.

A postcard was sent last week notifying employees of the 2009 open enrollment and this year's Benefit Fair. A booklet detailing flexible benefit options and health plan costs for the new fiscal year will be sent to employees through campus mail.

Representatives from Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware, as well as many other benefit providers, will participate in UD's annual benefits fair to be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, May 7, in Multipurpose Rooms A, B and C of the Trabant University Center.
