8:59 a.m., May 4, 2009----Daniel Kutner, Israel's consul general in Philadelphia, will speak on the topic “Understanding Israel's Government” on Wednesday, May 6, as the University of Delaware's Global Agenda series continues. Kutner will speak at 7:30 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.

Kutner has been a member of Israel's Foreign Ministry since 1983, and has served in Bolivia, Venezuela and New York.

He has directed intelligence and economic research at the Foreign Ministry in Palestinian and Jordanian affairs, Egypt and North Africa affairs, and Syrian and Lebanese affairs.

The Global Agenda series is sponsored by the University of Delaware and the World Affairs Council of Wilmington and is moderated by Ralph Begleiter, Edward and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Communication and Distinguished Journalist in Residence at UD.

The theme of Global Agenda 2009 is “Tinderbox: Understanding the Middle East.”
