The service will provide assistance in the development of innovative technology concepts that also meet the specific research and development needs of the federal government.

The service is offered by the Delaware Small Business Development Center (DSBDC) Network, in partnership with the Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) and the Small Business Innovation Research Resource Center.

Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I grants are intended to fund early stage research of innovative technology-based ideas that may later be commercialized as new technology.

The new service uses a team approach, combining experienced business professionals with successful past award recipients and seasoned technical experts to assist the researcher with the development of SBIR or STTR proposal.

The assistance includes access to a customized tool to assist with preparation of the specific agency.

Due to the support of EPSCoR, the cost for the entire service will be $300 per proposal. In order to be considered for the service the interested entrepreneur or researcher will need to fill out a brief application which will be reviewed by the SBIR/STTR assistance team. There are a limited number of slots available, and selection will be based upon compatibility of the research with government needs.
