Left Behind: Chrysler's Newark Assembly Plant Past, Present and Future premiered May 21 on campus before a standing-room-only crowd of students, administrators, Chrysler workers and members of the community.

The documentary explores the historic automotive assembly plant in Newark, which opened amid patriotic fervor, producing tanks for U.S. forces in the Korean War, and the unprecedented growth in what was then a small university town. It also looks at the potential for the now abandoned plant site, which is adjacent to the UD campus.

Students interviewed plant workers, officials, environmental protection experts, community leaders, citizens and other analysts for the documentary, which was created for a class on "Broadcast News Documentary," taught by Ralph Begleiter, Edward and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Communication and Distinguished Journalist in Residence.

Producers and reporters include Rachel Alper, Brian Anderson, Antonia Borelli, Amanda Carlson, Daniel Corkery, Laura Dattaro, Lauren Ferrante, Kyle Gleason, Lauren House, Talia Katz, Stephanie Kraus, Luciano LaPenta, Bridget Leahy, Alex Lorn-Krause and Julie Wigley.
