The lecture will be held on Tuesday, March 10, at 4:30 p.m. in the Reserve Room of the Morris Library. A reception for all program attendees will follow also in the Reserve Room after Tallamy's presentation.

Interested individuals may request a printed invitation by calling the Office of the Vice Provost at (302) 831-2231 or by sending an e-mail message to [libraryrsvp@winsor.lib.udel.edu].

An online version of the invitation is available at this Web page.

The talk will focus on Tallamy's recent book Bringing Nature Home: How Native Plants Sustain Wildlife in Our Gardens (Portland, Oregon: Timber Press, 2007). “It is not too late to save the ecosystem-sustaining matrix of insects and animals, and the solution is as easy as replacing alien plants with natives,” Tallamy observed.

Tallamy received a doctorate in entomology from the University of Maryland, a master's in entomology from Rutgers University, and a bachelor's in biology from Allegheny College.

His research interests are varied and include behavioral ecology of insects, sexual selection, conservation of biodiversity, impact of alien plants on native ecosystems, plant-insect interactions, cucurbitacin pharmacophagy and insect parental care.

Tallamy's teaching responsibilities include Conservation of Tropical Ecosystems, Debates in Conservation Biology, Behavioral Ecology and Advanced Ecology.

His book will be available for purchase from the University of Delaware Bookstore at the event. Tallamy has expressed willingness to sign copies of his book during the reception.

The Annual Faculty Lecture and reception are open to the public.
