10:36 a.m., March 13, 2009----“On the Road to Tenure at Delaware,” a promotion and tenure workshop open to all faculty, will be offered from 2-5 p.m., Monday, March 23, in the gallery of the Perkins Student Center.
The Commission on the Status of Women, the Office of the Provost and the Center for Teaching Effectiveness are sponsoring the promotion and tenure workshop, which will feature a faculty panel discussion followed by roundtables.
The deadline for registration is Thursday, March 19. To register, go to this Web page.
The workshop will open with a panel discussion.
Faculty Panel Discussion (2-3:30 p.m.)
Panelists: Karen Rosenberg, chairperson, Commission on the Status of Women, chairperson, Department of Anthropology, and associate professor, Women's Studies; Havidan Rodriguez, vice provost for academic and international programs; Breck Robinson, member, University Promotions and Tenure Committee, associate professor, School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy; Saul Hoffman, chairperson, Department of Economics; Cihan Cobanoglu, associate professor, hotel, restaurant and institutional management; and Judith Herrman, associate professor, nursing.
The faculty panel will address critical issues pertaining to promotion to associate professor -- preparing for the promotion process; putting the dossier together and the role of external reviewers; addressing promotion and tenure policies and procedures most effectively.
The panel will be followed by roundtable discussions. Participants will receive a packet of resource materials for their reference.
Roundtable Discussions (3:45-5 p.m.)
The roundtables will focus on the following topics: achieving tenure in interdisciplinary fields, promotion from associate to full professor, compiling the teaching part of the dossier, and navigating the UD process.
