10:09 a.m., March 6, 2009----Jean-luc Doumont, an engineer from the Louvain School of Engineering, will present “Structuring Your Scientific Paper,” on Thursday, March 12, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Trabant University Center Theatre.

The author of Trees, maps, and theorems, about “effective communication for rational minds,” Doumont will show how to structure scientific papers, theses, and technical reports to capture the reader's attention, facilitate navigation, and get the message across optimally.

Doumont has a Ph.D. in applied physics from Stanford University. He is a popular invited speaker worldwide at scientific conferences, research laboratories, and top-ranked universities.

The presentation is open to the University community. It is sponsored by the SPIE Student Chapter at the University of Delaware, the College of Engineering, the Office of Graduate and Professional Education, the Research Office, and SPIE International.
