"We are especially interested in partnerships with institutions of higher education in China, India, South Korea and in Latin America/Caribbean, although other regions around the world also will be considered," Lesa Griffiths, associate provost for international programs, said.

Activities stimulated by these funds are expected to create revenue funds that enable the program, following this seed funding, to be self-sustaining. Preference will be given to proposals with universities that UD has already identified as partners and activities that fall under one of these categories:

o Global Studies, such as developing new study abroad programs, service learning initiatives and other scholarly activities for UD students and faculty;
o Signature Academic Programs, such as global studies cetificate programs and multidisciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs; and
o Joint Research Programs, including initiatives with high potential for external support.

March 31 is the deadline for activities occurring through June 2009.

Proposals may come from full-time permanent faculty members and senior administrative staff at the University. To be considered, all proposals must have some matching contribution, either in actual funds or in kind, from the department, college or relevant unit.
