The panel discussion, which is free and open to all interested students, will feature four professionals in human service and early childhood education. They are Heidi Beck of New Directions Early Head Start; Kendra Waninger, a doctoral candidate in the department and former child welfare worker; Greg Munson of the Claymont Community Center and Allison McDowell of the Office of the Child Advocate.

The program will include information about human service and early childhood education majors, as well as career and intership opportunities.

In addition, the program will include the announcement of the first Swank Scholarship winners. Sponsored by the Howard W. Swank, Alma K. Swank, and Richard Kemper Swank Foundation, the Swank Human Services Disabilities Scholarship was created to promote excellence in disability-related services in Delaware.

These merit-based scholarships are to be given each year, beginning in 2009, to two University of Delaware human services majors who are completing their sophomore years and will concentrate their education in disabilities services.
