1:19 p.m., March 3, 2009----The University of Delaware has launched an internal search for dean of the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy, it was announced recently by Provost Dan Rich.

Michael Gamel-McCormick has served as interim dean of the college since July 1, 2008. He replaced Timothy K. Barnekov, who retired at the end of the 2007-08 academic year.

Rich said that Gamel-McCormick “has done an outstanding job as interim dean.”

Rich added that it is now time to fill the position of dean on a permanent basis.

Robin Morgan, dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, will serve as chairperson of the search committee.

Committee members are: David Ames, director of the Center for Historic Architecture and Design; Marsha Dickson, chairperson of the Department of Fashion and Apparel Studies; Robert Hampel, professor of education; Raheemah Jabbar-Bey, assistant professor of urban affairs; Anthony Middlebrooks, assistant professor of urban affairs; Kathleen Minke, acting director of the School of Education; Audrey Noble, director of the Delaware Education Research and Development Center; Joseph Pika, James R. Soles Professor of Political Science and International Relations and director of the Center for Secondary Teacher Education; Scott Stevens, director of the English Language Institute; and Bahira Sherif Trask, professor and associate chairperson of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies.

The search committee will seek nominations and applications and organize candidate interviews. It is anticipated their report and recommendations will be made by April 15.
