The host of CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360" will be the first speaker in the UD Speaks series. Those on campus may have noticed the mystery man cardboard cutout atop a stage in Trabant University Center this week and posters posing the question, “Who will be the first?” The answer is Cooper.

UD Speaks is dedicated to bringing world-class leaders to the Delaware campus to educate, enlighten and engage the University community.

"Anderson Cooper 360" airs weeknights on CNN. As host, Cooper has covered nearly all of the world's major news in recent years. He spent more than a month in Hurricane Katrina-ravaged areas immediately following the storm and has returned to the Gulf Coast more than 20 times since.

Cooper has reported from both Iraq and Afghanistan, covered the bombings in London, the 2006 Israeli-Hezbollah conflict, the funeral of Pope John Paul II, and the 2004 tsunami in Sri Lanka.

More recently, Cooper was a staple of CNN's coverage of the 2008 presidential election. In addition to his work for CNN, Cooper also files reports for CBS' 60 Minutes.

He will appear on campus, Wednesday, April 15, at 8:30 p.m., at the Bob Carpenter Center. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday at UD box offices and via Ticketmaster. Cost per ticket is $5 for students, $10 for faculty and staff, and $15 for the public.
