8:42 a.m., June 4, 2009----The final sale day for the UDon't Need It? program, in which homegoods and furnishings from University of Delaware students are made available to the public, will be Saturday, June 6, at the former Curtis Paper Company site at 225 Paper Mill Road.

Drop-offs from students and landlords will be accepted until 3 p.m., Friday, June 5.

The site is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Saturday's sale prices will be at their lowest to clear out inventory in order to avoid adding items to the landfill.

A spokesman for the City of Newark said the success of the program is a direct result of the cooperation and enthusiasm of UD students, whose strong participation in 2008 led to increased diversion of materials from the landfill. In two years, the program has diverted more than 155 tons of materials from the landfill and also has assisted several hundred families in need.
