"This change will enable the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to work more closely with our Billing and Collections unit to provide better and more efficient service to our students and their families," said Rob Specter, vice president for finance. Each year, the University of Delaware awards more than $100 million in scholarships and financial aid. The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid will remain in its current locations at the University Visitors Center and in the Student Services Building, where it is near Billing and Collection.

"Our Path to ProminenceTM depends upon continually improving the quality of our entering freshman class and its subsequent experience at UD,” Provost-designate Tom Apple said. “This change will allow Enrollment Management to focus on refining our practices with regard to shaping the entering freshman class and ensuring that we're effective and efficient in accommodating it and all returning students through our faculty assignments and classrooms allocation."

"Over the next six months, the two offices will undertake an organizational assessment followed by a strategic planning process. Ultimately, they will merge into an integrated student financial services organization that supports the University's enrollment management objectives, delivers student-focused services and provides superior customer service to our students and their parents," Adams said.

The realignment follows a Student Services Improvement Initiative that explored ways to improve customer service and the accuracy of student bills, which contain information from several units, including Housing, Billing and Collection, Dining Services and Scholarships and Financial Aid.
