Inverse problems is a fast-growing area involving a broad range of disciplines from the most abstract and pure mathematics to practical engineering.

The program has received major funding from both the IMA and the National Science Foundation, and will draw more than 50 graduate students representing more than 35 institutions in 9 countries.

The main theme will be the mathematics of inverse problems with three week-long focus sessions on wave-type phenomena, inverse “time-harmonic" scattering, and variational analysis applied to inverse problems broadly conceived.

IMA Director Fadil Santosa, formerly of UD, will provide opening remarks at 8:30 a.m., Monday, June 15, in Kirkbride Hall.

The program has been organized by UD faculty members in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. They are Fioralba Cakoni, David Colton, Russell Luke, Peter Monk and Rakesh.
