Douglas F. Tuttle, instructor in the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy and former public safety director, was quoted in a Jan. 30 Chronicle of Higher Education story about the Clery Act, which was designed to alert students and parents to crime on university and college campuses.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a Jan. 27 story in The New York Times and in a Jan. 24 story in the Charlotte Observer concerning Bank of America, its board of directors and CEO Ken Lewis. “This board, historically, has been viewed as a board that was there on paper,” Elson told the Times. “But the question has been how active they have been in overseeing the CEO?” Elson also was quoted in a Jan. 27 USA Today story about possible use of federal bailout funds for employee bonuses by Merrill Lynch. In addition, Elson was quoted in two Bloomberg.com articles on Jan. 30: one about Wall Street bonuses and the other about the credentials of the chief executive officer of Microsemi Corp.

Sanford Robbins, chairperson of the Department of Theatre, and several actors were quoted in a Jan. 27 News Journal feature story about the Professional Theatre Training Program and its new professional troupe, the Resident Ensemble Players.

Muqtedar Khan, associate professor of political science and international relations, wrote an opinion piece in the Jan. 27 News Journal about the moral signals being sent by President Barack Obama.

William Poole, former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and now Distinguished Scholar in Residence in the Lerner College of Business and Economics, was quoted in a Jan. 25 News Journal story about actions being contemplated by the Federal Reserve.

Christy A. Visher, professor of criminal justice, was quoted in a Jan. 25 News Journal story about crime-cutting programs that reach out to released inmates as they re-enter society.

Sue Barton, assistant professor of plant and soil sciences and Cooperative Extension specialist, was quoted in a Jan. 25 News Journal Native Delaware column concerning the stark beauty of trees in winter. "Form is the foundation of the winter landscape," Barton said. "Walk through the woods and notice the variety of forms you see -- you'll find trees that are columnar, round, conical, broad-spreading, upright-spreading, weeping or elliptical. For visual interest, try to create that same variety in your own yard and garden."

John Byrne, director of the University of Delaware Center for Energy and Environmental Policy, was quoted in a Jan. 25 News Journal story about cap and trade programs designed to ease greenhouse gas emissions.

Scott Brunner, former quarterback for the Blue Hens, was featured in a story in the Jan. 24 New York Daily News.
